Tech Job Availability in NYC is higher than ever!

The tech scene of NYC has long been one that is bustling and diverse. The city works with startups and major corporations in collaboration to make NYC better for everyone there. So, how well is NYC doing? Let’s get down to the numbers!

New York City by Numbers

Tech employment in New York City is at an all-time high, with almost 50% of total growth throughout the last decade. There are hundreds of thousands of tech jobs in the NYC Metro area, and that number skyrockets when you head out towards the suburbs. There are also thousands of startups in NYC that have generated billions in funding. Overall, the tech economy of NYC is booming and shows no signs of slowing down any time soon!

Things to think about

5 light bulbs.
What should you be looking for in a professional organization?

Choose your group carefully. Ask yourself if the professional organization you choose meets your needs, and see what you can contribute to the community. It’s vital to participate in the community of your choice, as you (and everyone else) have a lot to gain from each other.

Who will you interact with?

One of the biggest things to keep in mind when scouting professional organizations in New York City is the kind of people you’ll be spending time with. Does this organization share your own personal values? Would you be comfortable attending meetings and other events with the organization?

One thing to remember about associating yourself with professional organizations is the fact that once you join, the organization’s image is then intertwined with your own. While there are many great things about joining professional organizations, it’s important to remember that whatever that organization does in the future, it may reflect back on your own personal career, the good and the bad.

What will I learn?

Joining a professional organization can potentially be a big-time commitment, especially considering the hustle and bustle of modern life. So, when considering finding an organization, make sure that you’re getting out of it what you wish to get out of it to make that time commitment pay off.

For example, if you’re interested in learning more about a specific portion of the tech industry, finding out if your organization caters to this ahead of time can end up saving you a ton of time and money in the long run.

Additionally, accessing and being transparent about the amount of time you can commit to the program before you begin is a great way to get off on the right foot.
